Mike Eldred: Bio

One of America's most beloved tenors, MIKE ELDRED continues to entertain and warm the hearts of audiences nationwide. From intimate cabarets, to television, to the Broadway stage, an evening with MIKE ELDRED is an unforgettable experience. Mike starred on Broadway in the final cast of LES MISERABLES where he performed the role of Jean Valjean. He starred as Tony in the Nashville Symphony's production of WEST SIDE STORY, and performed the vocals for its Naxos Records recording. Other Broadway shows, national tours and regional productions include THE CIVIL WAR, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD, and MY FAIR LADY. In addition, he began his career as a successful Gospel performer, and has sung with the greatest symphony orchestras in the nation. Throughout his career, Mike has brought joy to his audiences through his extraordinary talent, combined with his spirit and passion for his music.

Mike was a featured artist on the PBS pledge concert, “DENNIS DeYOUNG; THE MUSIC OF STYX LIVE IN CONCERT”. This was one of the top PBS pledge programs of 2005 and 2006 with over $1.7 million pledged in 44 PBS cities. Mike also toured with Mr. DeYoung during two years of live concerts promoting the PBS special in cities such as Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and St. Louis, with over 50,000 attendees.
Recently, Mike completed a national tour with pianist Jin Brickman, performing for over 60,000 people in one month. Mike has also performed with the Baltimore, Chicago, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Houston, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Phoenix and Seattle symphonies. In December 2006, Mike hosted the Indianapolis Symphony's record breaking concert series YULETIDE CELEBRATION. In December 2007 he starred in the Baltimore Symphony’s HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR. He has already scheduled concerts for 2008 and 2009 which include the Toronto Symphony, the Fort Worth Symphony, the Omaha Symphony, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, Ontario.
Mike has been honored with the Tennessean Actor of the Year Award, Nashville Scene's Best Musical Theatre Performer, and was nominated for the Nashville Music Awards Male Vocalist of the Year. Mike recently produced a new Holiday CD entitled “LET IT BEGIN…” and has also produced a solo recording entitled “ME”, featuring songs from his favorite roles including “BRING HIM HOME”, “MARIA”, “IF I LOVED YOU”, “I HAVE DREAMED” and “SOME ENCHANTED EVENING”.
